The free version of Canva comes with more than a thousand free fonts, and Canva Pro offers 500 more premium fonts. And the good news is that you are free to use all these fonts for free for commercial use.

Let’s say that you have a free Canva account. It has more than a thousand fonts already, and you are free to use all these fonts on any of your commercial work.

If you upload and use custom fonts in Canva, then there are more things that you need to know.

First, you must visit the font creator’s website and find the font license. Go through the license to see if you can use them for commercial use or not.

All the pro content will have a Canva watermark if you are a free user. You should either subscribe to the pro plan or pay a one-time fee to use them in your work.

What Is Not Allowed?

Although Canva allows you to use almost all elements free for commercial uses, there are certain things that you should keep in mind.

Have you ever seen a mirror effect on an image and thought about how to get the same on Canva? In this article, I will show you how to get a mirror effect on Canva. And yes, you can apply the mirror effect to images and texts.

We all want our image or graphics work to stand out and attract as many eyeballs as possible. And the best way to do so is by incorporating style elements seen as lesser and hard to replicate.

How to mirror in Canva

How to Create a Mirror Effect (in Canva)

Basics out of the way. Let’s get right into it. Below are the simple-to-follow and easy steps to attain a mirror effect on Canva.

Below given is an example of the effect.

mirror effect on canva

Basically, we flip the text content or image horizontally/vertically to get a reflection effect on Canva.

So, let’s see how?

Step 1: First, open Canva and create a canvas of any resolution of your choice.

Step 2: Set the background color or add an image as background to your design.

add image as background in canva

Step 3: Click on the Text tool and write something. This is the text element to which we will add a mirror effect. Once added, align it to the correct position. Also, please select the proper font style, size, and color, as these cannot be changed once we enter the next step.

add text content

Step 4: Click on the Add Page button from the bottom section to add a new page.

add page

Go to the first page, duplicate the text, and move it to the second page.

copy text from page one
paste text in second page

Step 5: Change the second image’s background to a solid color of your choice, something different and contrasting to the color of the text.

Step 5: Once done, click on the Share button from the top left corner of the screen and hit Download.

share file

Make sure only to select the second page to download.

download the second page

Step 6: Now head over to remove.bg website. We will use this website to extract the text alone in transparent background.

Upload the image to the website, wait for it to process, and remove the background. Once done, download the image in PNG format.

download the transparent image

Step 7: Come back to Canva and drag and drop the downloaded text image file into the canvas. You can also use the uploader to upload the image as well.

Step 8: Select the image we uploaded just now and click on the Flip option. You’ll have two options here:

  • Flip horizontal
  • Flip vertical

Choose a flip style depending on the image you are working with. In this case, I will select the flip horizontally option as I want the text to appear upside down.

Step 9: Now drag and align the image to the proper position to match the original text. Also, make sure to scale it if required.

Step 10: Finally, to add some realistic effect to the text, play with the transparency slider a bit, and there you have it. We have successfully mirrored a text in Canva.

Tip for Canva Pro Users

If you are a Canva Pro user, I have some good news.

It might sound difficult for you to download the image and then upload it to remove.bg, then download it again and then reupload it back to Canva. If you use Canva Pro, then do this instead.

After creating the required text on the second page, as usual, download it to your computer and re-upload it back.

Once uploaded, drag it to the canvas. Select the image and click on the Edit Image option.

From here, select the Background Remover tool and use it to remove the background of the image.

Once removed, save the changes and use the Flip tool to mirror the image, all within Canva itself.

You can follow the same procedure to mirror an image as well. Find the detailed guide on mirroring images on Canva below,

How to Mirror Images on Canva

If you want to mirror images on Canva, refer to the steps below.

  • Open up the Canva project in which you want to mirror images.
  • Copy-paste or upload the required picture and add the same to your design.
  • Once added, click on the image and then the Flip button from the options available on the top.
  • You’ll have two options. The first one is to flip horizontally, and the second one is to flip vertically. Select the flip mode as your requirement.

  • As soon as you click the flip button, the image will mirror.

  • Next, you might want to arrange, align and scale the image to the perfect position.

Mirroring Images vs. Mirroring Texts

By now, you might have already understood that mirroring images in Canva is easy, but texts are not. Remember that we don’t have a tool in Canva that lets us allow mirror texts. But don’t worry, and follow the workaround above to mirror text elements in Canva.

The method might initially feel a little overwhelming, requiring you to download images, remove background, upload it, and then flip. But after doing it a couple of times, you’ll be good to go.

FAQ on Mirroring Images/Mirror Effect in Canva

Below given are some commonly asked questions about the mirror effect in Canva.

Can I access the mirror effect in the free version of Canva?

Yes, you can mirror both texts and images in the free version. Just follow the steps to do it quickly.

Does Canva have the native option to mirror texts?

No. At the time of writing this article, Canva does not have the option to mirror text elements natively. But you can easily mirror images in a single click using the Flip tool in Canva.

Mirror Effect on Canva: Wrap Up

As mentioned earlier, you can easily mirror images on Canva but mirroring text content might be a little pain. But the result is worth it as you would still be able to reflect texts in Canva. If you were to use other tools or photo editing software like Photoshop, then it would take a lot more time. Following the method above, you can get everything done right from canva itself. I hope it helps.

Canva and Adobe Spark are the two most popular online graphics designing tools that lets you easily create some high-quality posters, banners, or content based on templates like Social Media post, Presentation, YouTube Thumbnail, etc. Both services offer a similar set of features and options to play. Here in this article, we are putting both Canva and Adobe Spark on a test to see which one is the best when it comes to ease of use and features available.

Canva vs Adobe Spark

I do use a lot of graphics designing and image editing offline software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and web-based designing tools like Canva and Adobe Spark. But in this article, we will be specifically talking about Canva vs Spark.

Canva vs Adobe Spark

We will be comparing some general features and options that are available on both platforms. In short, we are finding which one is most easy to use and gets the job done fastly.

Graphics Design Templates

The number one thing a lot of users are looking for is ready-made templates to work on. Most of the users who prefer Canva or Spark likes to start from a template and then make modifications to it. Both the platform has got a good number of different templates to start with.

In Canva.com, they have about 50,000+ templates at the time of writing this article. One could select any of these as the base template and then start editing different elements or add some yourself. You will already find some pre-defined templates like Instagram Story, Facebook post, Blog cover, Poster, etc.

graphic design templates in canva
Canva Template Library

When it comes to Adobe Spark, its template library consists of about 27,000+ templates. Similar to Canva, one can select any base template and then start editing it. You will find templates on almost all categories like Blog featured image, Facebook Post, Twitter Cover, etc.

graphics design templates available in Adobe Spark
Adobe Spark Templates

Winner: Canva – Both the platform does really well when it comes to templates side of things, the only thing here is that Canva got almost double the size of templates available in Adobe Spark.

Ease Of Use

Everyone wants to get their job done fast. We don’t want to spend hours figuring out how to use the web app and things related to that. We want everything to be done quickly.

Both Canva and Spark are easy to use and all you want is a web browser to access it. No need to download browser extension or anything of that sort. I felt the user interface of Canva much more simple and flexible than that of Adobe Spark. I am more used to the interface of Canva but once figured out Adobe Sparks’s interface is also good.

This is how the editing interface of Canva looks like:

Canva user interface
Canva User Interface

This is the user interface of Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark Editing User Interface

You won’t struggle finding options as both of them have every options categorized and arranged neatly.

Winner: Canva (Easy to use interface is a plus point)

Typography Options

Images speak loud, at the same time we need to add texts to make it more appealing. There are times when you want to add rich texts or labels to make your images cool. Canva and Adobe Spark are really great when it comes to typography options.

I found both the platforms similar when it comes to the font and typography side of things. You could add text as normal and then change various parameters like font family, size, color, alignment, opacity, etc in both platforms.

canva font options and styles
Canva
Typography options in spark
Adobe Spark

Additionally, you are also given the option to upload your own custom font and use it. In order to upload custom fonts, you need premium accounts on both. Adobe Spark also comes with fonts from Adobe Typekit as well.

In Adobe Spark, there is a suggestion wheel, you can simply click and drag and it will automatically suggest some amazing styles that you could use in a single click.

Winner: Draw

Watermark

Whenever you use some free online design tools to create banners and posters, they add a watermark somewhere on the image. In this case, Canva does not add any sort of watermark even in their free plan. But that’s not the case when it comes to Adobe Spark.

Spark will add a small watermark to the bottom right corner of the image. You can easily remove it by clicking on the watermark and then clicking on the “Remove Once” option. The thing is that you will have to do it every single time you use Adobe Spark which is a big downside.

Adobe Spark Watermark

Winner: Canva

Integration With Third Party Apps

Canva has support for a good number of third party web apps and services like Flickr, Pexels, Pixabay, Instagram, Google Drive, Dropbox, Bitmoji, Typeform, Hubspot and more. You can easily share your design and even import content from these apps to Canva, making it easier for users.

Canva apps integration

Spark is not having this many integrations for third party web apps. Adobe Spark is well-integrated with Adobe lineup of apps and services, that’s it.

Winner: Canva

Image Oursourcing

When it comes to image outsourcing, both Canva and Spark do a good job. As mentioned earlier, Canva is already integrated with two popular royalty-free images provides – Pexels and Pixabay. So you could search for any stock photos right from Canva and add it to your project. It also supports YouTube for videos and Giphy for GIFs.

Adobe Spark comes with support for its own Adobe Stock, Pixabay, and Unsplash, but it is not that easy as Canva. Furthermore, you can connect Spark to Google Photos, Drive, and Box to easily add photos from remote storage services.

Winner: Canva – For it’s seamless integration with great stock image providers.

Export and Download Options

Downloading your created project is simple as a piece of cake. You could download your design work in a matter of a single click. It applies to both platforms.

But when it comes to advanced control, Canva is the best bet here. You get tons of exporting options in Canva including PowerPoint, Embed option, Responsive web design, and lot more. In Spark, you can easily export it as an image file or PDF file.

Canva also allows you to upscale the resolution of image easily while exporting.

Winner: Canva

Premium Plan Pricing

Adobe Spark and Canva comes with optional premium plans to extend the features and options.

Canva has two premium plans. The first one is the Pro plan which costs $9.95/month and the second one is the enterprise plan which costs $30/month

Canva premium pricing

Adobe Spark on the other hand comes with two plans – one for $9.99/month and other for $19/month. If you opt to go with the $9.99 plan, then two months of access will be free.

Spark premium pricing

Winner: Draw

Free Trial

Both Adobe Spark and Canva comes with free premium trial.

Canva offers trial for both premium plans for 30 days.

Adobe Spark on the other hand only provides 60 days free trial for the Individual plan. No trial is available for the Team plan.

Final Verdict

In my opinion, Canva seems to be more user-friendly and flexible when it comes to designing graphics with ease. Both platforms get the job done. But the user interface of Canva is what I like the most. Furthermore, the third-party app’s integration in Canva makes it easy for you to import and export content easily.

For my use, I use the Canva web app and it suffices all my needs. Go ahead and try both Adobe Spark and Canva to find which one suits you the best.
