Has someone in your family or friend group ever claimed they were at the library studying, when their Life360 dot showed they were across town at the movies?

As the popular family tracking app Life360 grows in use, tricks to fake locations are unfortunately becoming more commonplace as well. People spoof locations on Life360 for a variety of reasons, whether to hide where they really are, cover up stops they didn’t want family members to know about, or simply pull a prank.

In this guide, I’ll explore some of the main techniques people use to spoof Life360 locations, as well as tips to catch location spoofing in action.

Is it possible to fake Life360 location?

Yes, it is possible to fake your location on Life360.

There are various apps available for both Android and iPhone that allow you to manually enter a fake GPS location or choose a location on a map to spoof your actual location. Some examples include Fake GPS Location Spoofer, LocationFaker, and Mock Locations.

How to tell if someone is faking location on Life360?

Look for location jumps/data inconsistency

One of the biggest giveaways of location spoofing on Life360 is when you see jumps between two places that are very distant from one another, instead of showing the movement smoothly along a path.

Unless someone is beaming themselves around via a teleportation machine, physical travel from one place to another takes time and follows logical routes. So if the location changes don’t seem reasonable based on the time between updates and physical capability of actually covering that ground travel on foot or in a car, location spoofing could be to blame.

life360 location data

Keep an eye out for big, abrupt location shifts that skip over the routes in between. Check things like:

  • Jumping distances greater than what is physically possible in the time period
  • Illogical routes that couldn’t be traveled, like across a river with no bridges nearby
  • Moving faster than reasonable for the method of transportation

See how to fix Life360 notifications not working or the app keeps showing last updated 2 hours ago.

Verify locations through photo metadata

An effective strategy to cross-check a Life360 location is to ask the person to send an image or video that proves they are indeed in that area. However, simply looking at the picture background can still leave some room for spoofing.

A smart spoofer could easily download a stock photo or video from the internet and claim it’s their own.

So make sure to go a step further by checking the media metadata. Photos and videos captured on smartphones contain embedded geospatial metadata that includes exact GPS coordinates pinpointing where that image or video was captured.

You can visit https://jimpl.com/ and upload the photo to see the meta data.

view image metadata online

To check the metadata on iOS, access the photo details. On Macs, you can use the Preview app to view all image metadata including geographic location details. For Android and Windows, free metadata viewer apps can pull the GPS info from media.

The embedded lat/long coordinates and elevation can definitively confirm if the photo was indeed taken right where their Life360 dot claims they were standing. If the metadata locations differ vastly from the pinned locations on Life360, it confirms suspicious activity.

Scan their phone for spoofing apps

If you have the opportunity to directly access the mobile device of the person whose Life360 location seems suspicious, take the chance to dig deeper for evidence of location trickery apps.

Check if any fake GPS or VPN apps are installed which allow manual location input or teleporting the phone’s GPS. Common examples include Fake GPS Free, Mock Locations, Location Spoofer Free, etc. Many require root or jailbreak access to function.

You can also investigate by opening the device’s settings menu and checking if “Mock Locations” or “Spoof Locations” options appear, which may indicate an integrated spoof app. Developer options may also show ongoing location spoofing.

It’s also wise to verify if their phone has been rooted (Android) or jailbroken (iOS). Gaining this admin access allows otherwise restricted location spoofing apps to be downloaded and used.

Try having someone physically verify

If a Life360 location seems questionable and you know someone who lives or works near that spot, you can take the extra step to have them physically travel to visually confirm whether the person is actually there.

For example, if your child’s dot claims they are at their friend’s house across town studying, but you doubt that is the real location, you can request the friend’s parents to physically walk through their home and check if your child is present. Or if a family member’s location shows up at a restaurant you know well, ask a fellow local to swing by to validate they are on site.

Wrap Up

All thanks to GPS spoofing apps, it’s now easier than ever to fake your GPS location and trick Life360 and other parental or tracking apps on your Android or iOS device. Checking for location data inconsistency, finding the photo metadata etc. are a few working tips to confirm if someone is faking their location on the app.

Have you ever had your Snapchat account temporarily locked and don’t know how to unlock it?

Getting locked out of Snapchat can be frustrating, but unlocking your account is possible if you follow the right steps.

In this guide, I’ll provide a quick rundown of how to unlock a temporarily locked Snapchat account so you can get back to Snapchatting as soon as possible.

I’ll cover reasons your account may have been locked, how to unlock it through Snapchat’s account recovery process, and tips to avoid getting locked out again in the future.

How To Know If Snapchat Account Is Locked?

If your Snapchat account is locked, as soon as you login to your account, the app will show a pop up saying “Oh no! Your account has been temporarily locked. For details on why this might’ve happened, visit https://www.snapchat.com/locked” and an Okay button.

Why Snapchat Temporarily Block An Account?

Before moving in, it’s important to know why Snapchat temporarily locks an account.

  • Suspicious activity – If Snapchat detects suspicious or unusual activity on your account, they may lock it temporarily as a security measure. This includes things like sending multiple friend requests in short time, logging in from a new device or IP address, etc.
  • Password reset requests – Snapchat may lock your account if there are multiple password reset requests in a short time period. This is to prevent unauthorized users from trying to gain access.
  • Violating Snapchat’s Terms of Service – Actions like spamming, bullying, or posting inappropriate content can lead to a temporary account lock. This gives Snapchat a chance to review the violation.
  • Inactive account – If you haven’t used your Snapchat account in a long time, they may lock it temporarily until you login again and confirm your identity.
  • Third-party apps – Using third-party apps that claim to offer Snapchat services could get your account locked, as these often violate Snapchat’s Terms.
  • Compromised account – If Snapchat has indication that your account security has been compromised, they’ll lock it to prevent misuse.

How To Unlock A Temporarily Locked Snapchat Account

Click this link to visit the My Account is Locked support page on the Snapchat official website.

Once you are on the website, scroll down and find the section that says My account is temporarily locked.

In this page, Snapchat explains why your account was locked and what no to do in the future.

Once unlocked, you may open the Snapchat app on your phone and login again.

How Long Does Temporary Lock Last on Snapchat?

  • Suspicious activity lock – Usually lasts around 24 hours. This allows Snapchat time to analyze the activity and confirm there was no unauthorized access.
  • Terms of Service violation lock – Can last from 24 hours up to 30 days depending on severity. Gives time for review.
  • Inactive account lock – Remains locked until you log back in to verify identity.
  • Compromised account lock – Lasts a minimum of 24 hours. Can extend up to 30 days depending on investigation.
  • Password reset lock – Typically 24-48 hours. Prevents repeated reset requests.
  • Third-party app ban – Varies, but usually between 24 hours to 30 days.

So, in most cases, expect a temporary Snapchat lock to last between 1-30 days maximum. The most common timeframe is 24 hours before it automatically unlocks your account.

If your account is not unlocked after 24 hours, you may use the link above to manually unlock your locked Snapchat account.

What happens when Snapchat temporarily locks the account?

A Snapchat temporary lock essentially deactivates your account with all data intact until the set time period expires and you can access your account again.

  • You are unable to log in or access your Snapchat account during the lock period. You’ll see an error message when trying to login.
  • Your Snapcode, profile, snaps, messages, friends list, and memories are hidden from view for anyone else on Snapchat. Basically your account is inaccessible.
  • You stop receiving any snaps, chats, or stories from your Snapchat friends while locked out.
  • Your Snapchat friends may see your bitmoji disappear from their friend list or chat lists, since your account is deactivated.
  • Your Snapstreaks with friends will pause during the lock and only resume if you unlock your account within 30 days. Otherwise streaks reset.
  • You cannot unlink your Snapchat account from your phone number or email while it is locked. This prevents unauthorized account access.
  • Any attempts to login during lock will reset the 24 hour countdown timer, so it’s best not to repeatedly try logging in.
  • Your account data like memories are preserved after the temporary lock is lifted.

Wrap Up

Getting locked out of Snapchat can be annoying, but with the right steps, you can get back into your account quickly. The temporary lockout is usually just Snapchat taking precautions to protect your account. In most cases, Snapchat will automatically unlock your account after 24 hours.

If your account is not unlocked after 24 hours, just follow the steps above to unlock is manually.

Playing video games on your PS5 should be a smooth, responsive experience. Nothing takes away from the fun more than a controller that feels sluggish and delayed.

If you’ve noticed your PS5’s DualSense controller responding slower than it should be, with button presses and joystick movements registering late in-game, you’re likely dealing with input lag or delay.

This guide will go over some of the common causes of DualSense controller input lag and delay, as well as different solutions you can try to fix the issue.

What Causes PS5 Controller Input Lag?

There are a few potential culprits behind sluggish or delayed response times on your PS5’s DualSense controller:

  • Distance from Console – The farther you sit from your PS5 console, the weaker the wireless signal. Sitting 8-10 feet or more away can introduce lag.
  • Low battery – If the controller’s battery is too low, a lag issue may pop up.
  • Defective Hardware – In some cases, the controller or console may have a hardware defect, causing delayed response times. Issues like faulty wireless antennas or connection points may be the issue.
  • Incorrect Settings – Wrong or suboptimal controller settings like vibration, trigger effect intensity, or sensitivity can negatively impact response.
  • InterferenceOther wireless devices and electronics can create interference with your controller’s wireless signal. Nearby routers, cell phones, Bluetooth devices, and other wireless controllers can disrupt signal timing.
  • Outdated Software – An outdated PS5 system software/firmware can make the wireless connection inefficient and laggy. Apps/games may also need patches.
  • Server Issues – For online games, server-side issues can also produce input lag if they are slow to relay your actions. This is out of your control.

How To Fix PS5 Controller Input Lag?

Restart the controller and the console

One simple but effective first step is to restart both your PS5 controller and console.

Restarting clears out any temporary software bugs or wireless connection issues that may be interfering with the sync and causing lag.

To restart the DualSense controller, press and hold the PlayStation button located in the middle of the controller for at least 10 to 15 seconds until the light bar at the top turns off. This will force the controller to power down.

ps5 controller power button

Once the controller light is off, press the PlayStation button again to turn the controller back on and resync it with the console.

For the PS5 console, go to the control center and select “Power” then “Restart PS5” to fully reboot the system.

Allow both the controller and console to go through their restart and reboot processes. This will clear any software issues and re-establish the wireless connection, often eliminating minor lag or sync issues in the process.

Restarting the console can help fix mic and sound-related problems as well.

Reset the controller

Resetting the DualSense controller erases all synced data and restores it to default settings. This can eliminate any corrupted data or settings that may be causing lag.

To reset the controller:

  1. Turn the PS5 off completely.
  2. Locate the small reset button on the back of the controller near the L2 trigger.
  3. Using a paperclip or small pin, press and hold the reset button for 3-5 seconds until you feel the controller vibrate.
  4. Turn the PS5 back on and press the PlayStation button on the controller to resync.
ps5 controller reset button

Resetting removes any paired user profiles, erases settings like button assignments, sensitivity, and vibration intensity, and restores them to out-of-box defaults.

After resetting, you’ll need to re-pair the controller and adjust your settings again. This often resolves persistent lag issues caused by erroneous control settings. It essentially gives you a fresh start with the controller’s wireless connection and operation.

Update Your PS5 Controller Software

Like any device, the DualSense controller relies on software and firmware to function properly. Over time, bugs or inefficiencies in the controller’s firmware can develop that hinder response times and cause lag.

Sony periodically releases software updates for the DualSense to fix bugs and improve performance. Keeping your controller updated ensures you have the latest firmware optimizations.

To update your controller software:

  1. On your PS5 dashboard, go to Settings > Accessories.
  2. Select Controllers > Wireless Controller Device Software.
  3. Choose Update to download and install the newest controller firmware.
  4. Once updated, reconnect your controller via USB or wireless.
update ps5 controller software

Make sure to fully power cycle both the console and controller after an update to clear caches. Updates can resolve wireless connectivity issues, improve button and joystick responsiveness, and reduce input delays.

Switch Your TV to Game Mode

Many modern TVs have specialized gaming picture modes that can significantly reduce input lag between the PS5 and your display.

The various picture presets like Movie, Vivid, Sports, etc. process the video signal differently before displaying it on screen. This extra image processing introduces input delay.

Game mode turns off all unnecessary video processing, giving you the fastest signal response time possible. The tradeoff is some loss in image quality, but for responsive gaming, this is an excellent option.

To reduce lag:

  1. On your TV remote, find the Picture Mode settings. This may be under Picture, Video, or Game menus.
  2. Select the preset labeled Game, Gaming, or Game Optimizer. Different brands use varying names.
  3. While enabled, you should notice snappier response times when playing PS5 games. Disable when watching movies for best visuals.

Try a Wired USB Connection

The DualSense controller is designed primarily for wireless operation. However, you can connect it directly to your PS5 via USB cable to rule out wireless interference as the cause of lag.

To switch to wired mode:

  • Plug any USB-C cable into the USB-C port on top of the DualSense controller.
  • Connect the other end into any open USB port on your PS5 console.
  • Press the PlayStation button on the controller to sync it.

This will switch the controller into wired operation mode. The inputs will now be sent directly over the USB cable, bypassing the wireless connection.

Test the controller in a game while in wired mode. If the lag is dramatically reduced or eliminated, it points to some sort of wireless interference impacting the controller. You can then troubleshoot the play environment and wireless settings further.

Switch PS5 to Performance Mode

The PS5 offers a choice between two system modes – Performance or Resolution. The performance mode lowers visual fidelity slightly in exchange for higher frame rates. This can noticeably reduce input lag and improve controller response.

Here’s how to enable it:

  1. From the PS5 dashboard, go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  2. Select Game Presets.
  3. Choose Performance Mode.
  4. Confirm changing the preset.
ps5 performance mode

This will set the system default to favor performance over visuals in supported games. The higher frame rates delivered in this mode greatly reduce the delay between your controller inputs and actions happening on-screen.

Try testing your controller response in games before and after switching to performance mode. The faster response times will make a difference in competitive multiplayer games where split-second reactions matter.

Disable A/V Sync & V-Sync

Two features that can add delay to games are A/V sync and V-sync. Disabling them can lower input lag:

  • A/V Sync synchronizes audio and video output, delaying visuals slightly. Turn this Off in Sound settings.
  • V-Sync synchronizes frame output with your TV’s refresh rate. Disable this in your game’s Video/Graphics settings if available.

Disabling both will reduce the extraser processing that introduces display lag. The downsides are possible screen tearing and audio delay without sync.

But for competitive gaming where input response times are crucial, it’s worth disabling these. The visual tears and audio mismatches will be less noticeable than severe controller lag.

Update PS5 software

Sony releases regular software updates for the PS5 to improve performance, fix bugs, and optimize the system. Keeping your console updated can resolve problems causing controller lag.

Here’s how to update your PS5:

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings.
  2. Select System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
  3. Choose Update System Software.
  4. If an update is available, select Download and Install.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process.
update ps5 software

Important: After updating, you must power cycle the PS5 completely by turning it off and back on. This clears any cached data and ensures the new software boots up fresh.

Vizio has some excellent TVs with support for streaming applications and various smart features. But sometimes, Vizio TVs run into issues like TV producing no sound output.

It is now a prevalent issue faced by many Vizio TV users. If your Vizio TV sound is not working, this article is for you.

I have found some fixes that will quickly help you fix sound issues with your Vizio TV.

Why Is My Vizio TV Sound Not Working?

Sound issues are not isolated when it comes to Vizio Smart TVs. There are several common reasons why sound output might fail on your Vizio TV. Let’s look at them.

Software Glitch

Most of the time, the sound is not working on your Vizio TV because of some software glitch. It can be easily fixed by a soft reset or sometimes a factory reset.

Outdated TV Software

Another common reason speakers fail to work on a Vizio TV is outdated TV software. If some issues or bugs are present in your TV’s operating system’s current version, then issues like sound problems will arise.

Broken Speaker

A faulty speaker ends up producing no audio on Vizio Smart TV. High-voltage fluctuations, broken speakers, etc., can cause speaker failure.

TV Hardware Failure

Several other supporting hardware components need to function correctly for your TV speaker to work. If some of those components fail to work, Vizio TV might not have sound.

How To Fix Vizio TV That Has No Sound

The simple solution to fix a Vizio TV with no sound is soft resetting it. Unplug your Vizio TV from the wall socket and wait for a minute. Hold the power button for 45 to 60 seconds before connecting it again. Turn on the TV, and the sound should work now.

Now let’s discuss multiple detailed methods to fix a Vizio TV with sound issues.

Soft Reset Vizio TV

Soft resetting your Vizio TV is the easiest and must-do thing if the sound doesn’t work. It is a simple process by which we eliminate temporary software glitches that might be stopping your Vizio TV from giving sound output.

Firstly, unplug your Vizio TV from the wall socket.

Wait for about a minute, and press and hold the power button on your Vizio TV for 45 to 60 seconds.

Vizio TV power button

Now reconnect your Vizio TV and turn it on.

This should help you fix software glitches that stop Vizio TV from producing sound output.

Check Connections

Faulty cable connection and cable management can sometimes cause issues with the sound in your Vizio TV. You must ensure that the power cord and HDMI cable are correctly connected to your TV.

You need to remove both the power cord and HDMI cable from your Vizio TV.

Now connect the power cord to your TV and ensure it is snugged into the power port. Connect the HDMI cable and make sure it is seated well as well.

Sound won’t work properly on your Vizio TV if the cables are not connected correctly. The simple fix is to remove the cable and connect it again. Make sure it’s secured well, and there is no loose contact.

Check If Speaker Is Broken

If your Vizio TV’s speaker is broken, the TV won’t give any sound output. Well, there is a simple way to see if the issue is with your TV’s inbuilt speaker.

If you have an external speaker, plug it into your TV and play some content. See if you can hear sound from the external speaker.

If you hear the sound from the external speaker, the issue is with your TV’s speaker. You will need to take your TV to the nearest service center to get it diagnosed and repaired.

Update Your Vizio TV

Vizio TV automatically updates its software whenever a newer version is available. But at times, the automatic software update might fail. If your Vizio TV is running an older version of the operating system, there might be some bugs and other issues causing audio problems.

You must ensure your Vizio TV is running on the latest version. Let’s see how to update your Vizio TV software.

Press the Menu button on your Vizio TV remote.

Factory resetting your Vizio TV will clear all the custom configurations and set every setting to factory default. It is the last troubleshooting step if your Vizio TV does not have sound output.

Follow the steps below to factory reset your Vizio TV

  1. Press the Menu button on the TV remote
  2. From the menu, click on the second-last option, Admin & Privacy
  3. Click the third option that says Reset to Factory Settings
Reset to Factory Settings

Wait for it to complete. The whole process will take several minutes to complete.

Once finished, you’ll need to set up your Vizio TV from the beginning.

Get In Touch With Vizio TV Support

If none of the troubleshooting steps mentioned above helped you, our final resort is to contact the Vizio TV support team. Below are the ways you can connect with the Vizio support team.

U.S. and Canada: 844-254-8087

Mexico: 844-324-5953

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM CST

Saturday – Sunday, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM CST

Most Vizio TV comes with one to two years of warranty. See if your TV is still in the warranty period. If yes, you can get your TV repaired free of cost.

Conclusion

A soft reset should fix the sound-related issues in your Vizio TV. A factory reset should do the job if that doesn’t fix it. If the problem is related to the TV’s internal hardware, you will need to take it to the nearest service center to get it repaired.

I hope the troubleshooting guide helped you to fix your Vizio TV with no sound.

Is Netflix streaming content blurry? It can be very frustrating when the quality is too low that you can’t enjoy the show properly.

Many people are complaining about low-quality streaming on Netflix lately. It is a widespread issue that people across the globe face. The video appears to be blurry or pixelated.

But the good news is that there are a couple of things that you can do to fix the problem. I managed to fix Netflix blurry video streaming on my computer in less than five minutes.

So is Netflix blurry for you? Well, follow the guide below to resolve the issue and stream Netflix in high resolution quickly.

Fix Netflix Blurry Or Low Quality

If Netflix is blurry, log in to your Netflix account and head to the Profile section. Click Account and click Change under Playback Settings. Under Data usage per screen, select High and hit Save. Repeat the same for all Netflix profiles.

Follow the guide below to fix Netflix low-quality problem on any device.

Change Netflix Streaming Settings

The first thing you need to do is to change the Netflix playback settings to high for the best video and audio quality. If you set the playback settings to low, it may result in a blurry or fuzzy video.

You may follow the steps below to set the right playback settings to get rid of Netflix blurry playback problem.

Log in to your Netflix account and select your profile.

Click your profile icon from the upper right corner and click Account.

Netflix Account Settings

Scroll down a little bit and click on your profile under PROFILE & PARENTAL CONTROLS.

Now click on the Change button next to the Playback settings to adjust the video quality.

Edit Playback Settings

Set Data usage per screen as High and hit the Save button.

Set Data usage per screen as High

Now you have successfully changed the video quality to high. Next time onwards, when you play a show on Netflix, it will force high-resolution video playback in Ultra HD.

You need to do the same on every individual profile on your Netflix account. So high resolution payback is forced for all profiles. You will need to know the PIN if the Netflix profile is locked.

Do keep in mind that High playback settings will use more data than usual. For example, HD streaming uses about 3GB per hour while Ultra HD (4K) streaming consumes an average of 7GB per hour.

Wait For A Full Minute

Did you know that it takes at least a minute for Netflix to max out to full-quality streaming?

After selecting a show to watch, you should wait for at least a minute or two for the quality to ramp up. Netflix will analyze your network bandwidth and increase the quality accordingly.

Before you rush to try the other troubleshooting steps below, wait for a minute and see if it increases the quality.

Make sure you have set data usage per screen as high.

Disable VPN

VPNs are yet another reasons why Netflix is blurry.

For starters, when using a VPN, it introduces an extra server in between your and Netflix connection. You will face streaming quality issues if it is not a high-speed server.

There are a lot of low-quality and cheap VPN services that negatively affect the speed. Even if you have a good Internet connection, if the VPN server is too slow, no matter what you do, the content will appear blurry or low quality.

So all you need to do is to disable the VPN and then try to watch any shows on Netflix and see if the quality issues disappear.

It doesn’t matter if you’re using a VPN browser extension or a VPN app installed on your computer or smartphone. Disable it and then try to access Netflix.

If you are trying to watch Geo-restricted content on Netflix, then a VPN is necessary. In this case, you may try a different VPN service and see if you can stream in high quality.

Using a VPN will also cause issues when watching Netflix on Discord or using a watch party service like Teleparty.

Clear Netflix App/Website Cache

Clearing the Netflix website or app cache will help you to fix a wide variety of problems like audio description not turning off and more. Follow the guide below to clear the Netflix cache on your Android or iOS device, PC/laptop, or smart TV.

Clear Netflix App Cache on Android or iOS

Clearing the app cache is the best way to fix simple problems like videos appearing blurry when you try to play a title.

Cache are small files stored on your device’s internal storage to speed up the performance of an app. A small amount of space will be reserved for every app to store cache files. Although cache files are good for improving speed, they may sometimes cause some problems.

Follow the steps below to clear the Netflix app cache on your Android and iOS device.

  • Open Settings
  • Tap General
  • Tap iPhone Storage
  • Scroll through the list of apps and find Netflix and tap on it
  • Tap the Offload App button
  • Tap Yes on the prompt

Clear Netflix App Cache on Android:

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Manage Apps > Installed Apps
  • Find Netflix from the list and tap on it
  • Tap Clear data
  • Tap Clear cache on the pop-up
  • Wait for a few seconds and reopen the app.
Clear Netflix App Cache

Clearing the cache won’t log out from the Netflix app. Once the cache is cleared, try opening the Netflix app and see if you can play titles in full resolution without any blurriness.

If clearing the cache doesn’t work for you, you may also try clearing the entire app data. If removed, you will want to log into your Netflix account again after you open it.

Update Netflix App

If you use the Netflix app on your smartphone, you should always ensure it is the latest version. Similar to other apps, Netflix is also prone to bugs and glitches. If you are using an older version of the Netflix app, then it might be a reason why the video is blurry.

Follow the steps below to update the Netflix app on your Android or iOS device.

Update Netflix on Android

  • Open Google Play Store
  • Search and tap on Netflix
  • Tap the Update button and wait for a few seconds

Update Netflix on iOS

  • Open App Store

Update Netflix app

Once you have updated the Netflix app on your device, try opening it and watching a show to see if the problem persists.

If it was a bug on the Netflix app, it should clear after the app update.

Downgrade The App

In rare cases, newer versions of certain apps come with bugs, too. If you noticed the blurriness appearing after updating the Netflix app on your smartphone, then the issue is with the latest version of the app.

If this is the case, all you have to do is to downgrade Netflix to the previous version.

Android users follow the steps below to download the previous version of the Netflix app on their devices.

  • Start by uninstalling Netflix from your device. Long tap on the Netflix icon and drag it to the Uninstall option.
  • Tap Uninstall on the pop-up that appears.
  • Open websites like APKPure or APKMirror and search for Netflix.
  • Scroll down to find the version history section.
  • Find and click the previous version.
  • Download the APK file to your device.
  • Tap the APK file to install Netflix on your device.
  • Once installed, open Netflix and log into your Account to enjoy high-quality and full-resolution content.

There is no way for iPhone users to download the previous version of the Netflix app as of now. You’ll have to wait till the developers release a new update for the app with bug fixes. For the time being, you may use Netflix on your Android device or access netflix.com on a web browser.

Restart Your Device

No matter which device you are using to watch Netflix, restarting it can sometimes help you fix the Netflix blurry problem.

So all you have to do is close the Netflix app on your smartphone and hold the power button to restart it. Once restarted, open the Netflix app and see if you can stream high-quality content without blur.

Similarly, if you use netflix.com on a PC, close the web browser and then restart your PC. Open your preferred web browser and access netflix.com again. If you cleared the website data before restarting, you may want to log into your Account again to start watching shows or movies.

Use Another Web Browser

Sometimes the issue may be specific to the web browser. Using a different web browser can help you in this situation.

Say, for example, you are experiencing low-quality streaming on Netflix while watching it on the Safari browser. If this is the case, you may try logging into your Netflix account on Chrome or Edge and trying to watch a TV show.

If you find no problem watching content on a different web browser, the issue must be with the web browser itself. You may update your web browser to solve the problem.

Additionally, try accessing netflix.com in incognito mode and see if there is any quality problem.

You may also try disabling all extensions and then accessing Netflix to see if an extension is causing the problem.

Contact Netflix

Even after following all the troubleshooting steps above, if you’re unable to fix the low-quality streaming issue on Netflix, then it’s time to get in touch with the Netflix customer support team.

You may use the link below to access the support page and contact an Netflix specialist. Briefly explain the issue and let them solve the problem for you.

Contact Netflix Support

For the time being, you may follow the guide below and use Netflix on a different device till the problem is resolved.

Access Netflix On Another Device

If you have contacted the Netflix team, it will take time for them to respond and resolve the problem. For the time being, you may use Netflix on a different device to watch content in full quality.

You may access the netflix.com website on a web browser to stream content in high resolution, or if you have a different device, install the Netflix app on your secondary device and enjoy high-quality shows.

Why Is Netflix Streaming Quality Low?

Below are some common reasons why Netflix is playing on low quality or the video is blurry.

  • Low Internet Speed: Netflix decides the streaming quality based on your Internet connection speed. If your Internet speed is very poor then Netflix will stream content in low quality. If this is the case, then the content might appear blurry.
  • The device Won’t Support High Definition Streaming: Not every device support streaming content in 4K. For example, if yours is an old device that only supports up to HD streaming, then higher resolution won’t work on your device.
  • Bug On The Netflix App: Bugs in the Netflix app can cause quality issues. Some people have reported the same problem in the past. Updating the Netflix app will help you in this case.
  • VPN: If you use a low-quality VPN, then it will seriously affect the streaming quality. When you use a VPN, an additional server is introduced between yours and the Netflix connection. If the VPN is not fast enough, Netflix will appear blurry.

Can I Manually Adjust Netflix Streaming Quality?

As of now, Netflix does not allow users to adjust the streaming quality manually. Netflix will intelligently change the quality depending on your Internet bandwidth.

Some streaming platforms, like YouTube, Amazon Prime Videos, etc., allow users to manually change the streaming quality. If the quality is low, you may use video quality control to increase it.

But sadly, this option is not available in Netflix.

You may use the Netflix HQ Chrome extension to force high-quality streaming.

What’s Next?

Updating the app, downgrading it to the previous version, and clearing the website data will help you to fix the Netflix blurry video streaming problem. Many people are facing the same problem lately. Hopefully, Netflix will release a new update with bug fixes to solve the problem.

Let’s quickly go through what we did to fix the Netflix blurry problem.

  • Set data usage per hour to High to force high-resolution streaming.
  • Update the Netflix app
  • Clear netflix.com website data and cookies
  • Clear Netflix app cache
  • Downgrade the Netflix app
  • Use a different web browser or device
  • Contact Netflix support

Seeing the “502 Bad Gateway” error when trying to use Spotify? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. This frustrating error essentially means that Spotify’s servers are having issues communicating with your device.

Fortunately, there are a few things you can try to get Spotify working again.

In this post, I’ll walk you through the common causes of the Spotify 502 error and the steps you can take to resolve it.

Whether the problem is on your end or Spotify’s, I’ll explain how to get your music streaming again in no time.

Read on to learn how to troubleshoot the “Bad Gateway” issue so you can start jamming out again!

What Does 502 Bad Gateway Mean On Spotify?

The “502 Bad Gateway” error on Spotify indicates that there is a communication problem between Spotify’s servers and the user’s device or network.

  • The 502 status code indicates a bad gateway error, which means there is an invalid response from the upstream server that Spotify is communicating with.
  • Essentially there is a network connectivity issue between Spotify’s servers and the user’s device or network. This prevents Spotify from retrieving the requested information from its servers.
  • The gateway is referring to the proxy server or endpoint that sits between the user’s device and Spotify’s infrastructure. This gateway is returning an invalid response back to the user’s Spotify app/client.
  • Reasons for a bad gateway response can include the gateway server being down, network connectivity issues, invalid cached data on the gateway, or firewall/security configurations blocking communication.
  • Since a 502 error is a network-level connectivity issue, it is often intermittent and resolves on its own. But persistent 502 errors point to a deeper configuration or capacity problem.
  • Spotify depends on constant communication between the client apps, gateway servers, and its backend infrastructure. The 502 error breaks this chain, preventing Spotify from functioning properly until the gateway issue is resolved.

How To Fix 502 Bad Gateway On Spotify

Follow the steps below to see how to fix 502 bad gateway error on Spotify.

Check if Spotify Server is Down?

One of the most common reasons for the 502 Spotify error is an outage or problem on Spotify’s end.

Before you spend time troubleshooting your own network and devices, check whether Spotify is experiencing widespread server issues.

Head to Spotify’s System Status page on Twitter. Here, they post updates if any Spotify services are degraded or down entirely. If they report an outage, that is likely the culprit behind 502 errors.

spotify status on twitter

You can also search online to see if other users are reporting widespread 502 Spotify errors. Sites like Downdetector will show spikes in error reports if the source is on Spotify’s end.

spotify downdetector

If Spotify is suffering a server outage or degraded performance, all you can really do is wait it out.

Make sure to keep the Spotify app closed during this time to avoid excessive failed connection attempts.

Keep checking Spotify’s status page to see when the issue is resolved.

Once Spotify’s services are restored, the 502 error should disappear on its own.

You may need to restart the Spotify app on your device once the outage is over.

If errors persist afterwards, then the problem could be unrelated to Spotify’s servers.

Is the Spotify server is down, you may also get a Can’t play this now error.

Try Using Spotify on a Different Web Browser

If you are encountering the 502 Spotify error on the web player specifically, try accessing Spotify from a different web browser.

The 502 error could be stemming from a browser-related issue like an add-on conflict, corrupt cache, privacy setting, or simple browser bug.

By trying a completely different browser, you rule out any factors related to your current browser.

For example, if you normally use Chrome, try launching Firefox or Edge and navigating to open.spotify.com. See if the 502 error pops up there as well.

If Spotify works fine in the alternate browser, then you know the problem is isolated to your normal browser. You can troubleshoot browser-specific causes like disabling extensions, clearing cookies and cache, resetting browser settings, or uninstalling/reinstalling the browser completely.

However, if the 502 error persists across all web browsers, then there is likely a different underlying cause, like network connectivity issues, VPN/proxy use, or a downed Spotify server.

Disable VPN

If you are connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network) when the 502 error occurs on Spotify, try disconnecting from the VPN, as it could be the source of the issue.

VPNs route your internet traffic through an encrypted tunnel to mask your IP address and location. However, some VPN connections can break connectivity with specific apps and sites.

Spotify may interpret the VPN connection as suspicious activity. This triggers Spotify’s servers to block the connection, resulting in a 502 “Bad Gateway” error.

Temporarily turn off or disconnect your VPN client and see if this restores access to Spotify. If Spotify starts working normally without the VPN, you know that the VPN was interfering with connectivity.

disable vpn

You may need to configure your VPN service to allow and ignore Spotify traffic over the tunnel. Refer to your VPN provider’s documentation for specific instructions.

Additionally, try switching to a different VPN server location or protocol. Changing these factors could result in a configuration that plays well with Spotify access.

Try Changing The DNS

Your device’s DNS (Domain Name System) settings could also be causing the 502 Spotify error. Changing to alternate DNS servers is worth trying as a troubleshooting step.

DNS is like the phonebook of the internet – it translates domain names to IP addresses. Your ISP provides default DNS servers, but sometimes these cause connectivity issues.

Follow these steps to change DNS on your device:

On Android:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced > Private DNS
  2. Select “Private DNS provider hostname”
  3. Enter a free DNS provider like “dns.adguard.com” or “1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com”

On iOS:

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and select your connected network

Tap on Configure DNS and select Manual

Enter a free DNS server address like “1.1.1.1” or “8.8.8.8”

change dns on iphone

On Windows:

  1. Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections
  2. Select your WiFi network and click Properties
  3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties
  4. Change the DNS server addresses to alternate DNS options

On macOS:

  1. Go to System Settings
  2. Open Network
  3. Select Wi-Fi
  4. Click the Details button, right next to the name of the current WiFi network
  5. Select DND
  6. Delete any listed DNS servers and add free ones like “1.1.1.1” and “1.0.0.1” or “8.8.8.8” & “8.4.4.8”
change dns on macos

Once updated, reconnect to the internet and try Spotify again. If the 502 error is resolved, you can leave the new DNS servers in place. Updating DNS settings may bypass any connectivity issues caused by your ISP’s default DNS.

The “Active Now” feature on Instagram shows you which of your friends or followers are currently online and using the app. It’s a convenient way to see who’s available for a quick chat or to view Stories in real time.

But just how accurate is the “Active Now” indicator? In this post, I did some testing to find out.

Over the past week, I monitored the “Active Now” status of several friends at different times of day. I then reached out to them to verify if they really were on Instagram when it said they were “Active Now.”

The results revealed some interesting insights into how this feature actually works. Read on to find out what I discovered about the accuracy of Instagram’s “Active Now” indicator and how it compares to real activity in the app.

What Does Active Now Mean On Instagram?

The “Active Now” feature shows users who are currently online and active in the Instagram app.

ou’ll see a green dot next to the profile names of your followers who are actively using Instagram at that moment. This could mean they are scrolling through their feed, watching Stories, commenting on posts, direct messaging, or using Instagram in any other way.

Essentially, if someone has the app open and they’ve interacted with it in the last few minutes, they will show as “Active Now” to their followers.

It’s a way to get a sense of who is live on Instagram and available for engagement in real-time.

But as we’ll explore in this post, it isn’t an exact science. The “Active Now” indicator gives you a good idea of current activity, but it isn’t flawless.

See what does Active Today means.

Is Active Now On Instagram Accurate?

During my testing over the past week, I found that Instagram’s “Active Now” status is reasonably accurate, but not 100% precise. There were definitely times when friends showed as “Active Now” and they really were actively using Instagram at that moment.

However, there were also a number of occasions when someone displayed as “Active Now” but they actually hadn’t opened Instagram in over an hour. It seemed to lag behind their real activity at times.

I also saw cases where friends told me they were browsing Instagram but their status didn’t say “Active Now.”

Overall, I’d say the “Active Now” indicator is generally reliable, but with some inconsistencies. It provides a good guideline for who is current active, but you can’t always take it as complete gospel.

The status seems to update on a delay at times, or occasionally gets stuck showing users as active when they’re not.

But in most cases, if someone is marked “Active Now” they likely have been using Instagram very recently. It’s just not perfectly precise to the minute.

It is safe to assume there is a 10-minute delay, after which only the Active Now status goes away in most cases.

How Long Does the Active Now Status Last on Instagram?

During my testing, I found that the “Active Now” status remains for a fairly short period after you’ve been actively using Instagram. From my observations, the green dot typically disappears around 10-15 minutes after you’ve stopped interacting with the app.

For example, if I was browsing Instagram for 20 minutes straight, my status would show “Active Now” that whole time. But if I then didn’t touch the app for 15 minutes, I would no longer display as active even though I still had Instagram open.

It seems the “Active Now” indicator is based more on your recent activity rather than whether the app is open.

You need to continually be liking, commenting, messaging, etc for the status to remain green. If you’ve been inactive for 10-15 minutes, Instagram seems to assume you’re no longer actively using it and will remove the online indicator.

Can I Disable Active Now on Instagram?

If you don’t want your activity status displayed to others, you can disable the “Active Now” feature in your Instagram settings. Here’s how to turn it off:

Go to your profile and tap the three line menu in the top right.

Go to “Settings & Privacy“.

open instagram settings

Select “Messages and story replies“.

Select” Show Activity Status“.

show activity status settings

Under Activity Status, switch the toggle off for “Show Activity Status”.

disable activity status on instagram

Once you toggle this off, you will no longer show as “Active Now” to other people when you’re on Instagram. Other users will not see when you are actively using the app.

Here’s a detailed on disabling last seen on Instagram.

This gives you more privacy and prevents followers from knowing when exactly you are online.

FAQ

How does Instagram determine “Active Now” status?

Instagram uses signals like in-app activity, user interactions, and recency of app usage to determine who is “Active Now.” It’s not just whether the app is open, but if you’ve liked posts, watched Stories, etc. recently.

Is “Active Now” status always accurate?

It’s fairly accurate, but not perfect. Sometimes it lags behind and shows some users as active when they aren’t. Other times it fails to show some active users with the status. But in most cases, it gives a good indication of who is currently on.

Can someone see if I’m Active Now on Instagram?

Yes, your followers can see when you are shown as “Active Now” and know you are online. The only way to hide this is to disable it in your settings.

How do I turn off “Active Now” status?

Go to Settings > Privacy > Activity Status and toggle off “Show Activity Status”. This will stop you from being shown as active.

What happens if I turn off Active Now?

You won’t show as active to others. But you also won’t be able to see anyone else’s “Active Now” status – it works both ways.

Can I hide my Active Now status from specific people?

No, it’s either on for all your followers or off for all. You can’t select who sees your activity.

Wrap Up

In closing, the “Active Now” feature on Instagram provides a useful, if imperfect, way to get a sense of who is currently active on the platform.

Through my testing, I found that it’s reasonably accurate in showing real-time activity, but the status can sometimes lag behind actual usage. The indicator lasts for around 10-15 minutes after you’ve stopped interacting with the app.

Life360 is a popular family tracking app that allows users to view the real-time location of family members. It’s designed to give you peace of mind by letting you know where your loved ones are at any given moment.

However, many Life360 users have experienced issues with the app not updating locations in real-time as expected.

When Life360 stops refreshing, it can cause panic as you can no longer locate family members. This seems to be a common problem with no clear solution.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss some of the potential reasons why Life360 may not be updating properly and go over some troubleshooting tips to try and get it working again.

Why Life360 Location Won’t Update?

Here are some common reasons why Life360 may not update locations properly:

  • Poor cellular or WiFi connection: Life360 relies on an internet connection to update locations. If you have a weak signal or are connected to a slow/unreliable network, this can prevent timely updates.
  • GPS issues: The app uses your phone’s GPS to pinpoint locations. If GPS capabilities are disabled or malfunctioning on your phone, Life360 will struggle to find device locations.
  • Airplane mode enabled: With airplane mode on, all wireless connections are disabled, preventing Life360 from updating your location.
  • Background app refresh disabled: Life360 needs to run consistently in the background to update locations. If background app refresh is disabled, this prevents seamless updating.
  • Phone battery optimization. To preserve battery, some phones restrict background activity for apps like Life360. This can interfere with location updates.
  • Conflicts with other apps. In some cases, other apps like security software and VPNs can disrupt Life360 functionality.

At times, Life360 may show Last Updated 2 Hours Ago or Phone off or no network.

How To Fix Life360 Not Updating?

If your Life360 app is not updating its location, you need to ensure the location/GPS access is enabled and battery optimization settings is disabled. Double-check your hone have internet access, is not logged into multiple device, and update Life360 to latest version.

Ensure Location & GPS Access Is Enabled For Life360

The first thing to check is whether Life360 has permission to access the device’s location services. The app relies on GPS and other location data to keep tabs on where you and your family members are.

Go to your phone’s Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Make sure Location Services is switched on. Then scroll and check that Life360 has permission to access your location Always or While Using the App.

You may also need to verify under Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location that Life360 is enabled here as well.

While in Settings, also go to Privacy > GPS and confirm that GPS/Location accuracy is switched on.

On Android:

Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > App permissions > Location. Make sure Life360 has access. Tap Location > Use precise location to enable.

Occasionally, location access gets disabled, so double-checking these settings may get Life360 updated again.

Make Sure The Internet Is Working

Since Life360 is cloud-based, it requires an internet connection to sync data and show real-time locations. Without a stable internet connection, the app can’t fetch the latest location data.

First, make sure your phone has cellular data enabled.

Go to Settings > Mobile Data and check it is switched on.

Also, ensure WiFi is enabled and connected to a network under Settings > WiFi. Test the connection speed to make sure it’s functioning well and not limited.

Try disabling WiFi and only using cellular data instead or vice versa. Toggle between the two to see if one provides better connectivity for Life360.

If you have no bars and are in a poor service area, this could explain why Life360 isn’t updating. Move to a location with a better signal.

Disable Airplane Mode

With Airplane Mode enabled, all wireless connectivity is disabled on your phone, meaning Life360 won’t work.

Go to Settings and make sure Airplane Mode is switched off.

Also, toggle it off within Control Center by swiping down from the top right of your iPhone.

Airplane Mode blocks GPS, cellular data, WiFi and Bluetooth – all key components Life360 requires to update locations.

Restart Your Phone

A simple restart can often fix problems with apps not functioning properly. Restarting clears out any software glitches and resets all systems.

On Android, press and hold the power button and tap the Restart button to resart your phone.

To restart an iPhone 8 or earlier, hold down the Side/Power button until the Slide to Power Off option appears. Swipe this option to turn off.

For iPhone X or later, hold the Side and Volume Up or Down buttons simultaneously until the shutdown slider pops up. Swipe to power off.

restart iphone

Leave the phone off for at least 30 seconds before pressing the Side/Power button again to restart it.

Android: Hold down the Power button until the Power off prompt appears. Tap Power off. Leave it off for 30 seconds minimum before pressing Power to restart.

Restart Your Phone

Once your phone has restarted, launch Life360 again to see if locations are updating accurately. A restart can reload the required phone processes for Life360 to work correctly.

Disable Battery Optimization Settings

To preserve battery life, iPhone includes battery optimization that can limit background activity for certain apps. Unfortunately, this can interfere with Life360 running properly in the background to update locations.

iPhone: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization and make sure Life360 is not selected. Tap it to disable battery optimization.

Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Battery optimization. Tap Life360 and select Don’t optimize > Done.

You can also enable unrestricted background app refreshing in your device settings. Disabling battery optimization gives Life360 the freedom to keep fetching location data.

Disabling battery optimization for Life360 can help you fix notifications not working issue as well.

Log Out If Logged In More Than One Device

Using Life360 simultaneously on multiple devices can sometimes disrupt the location services and cause updating problems.

Try logging out of the Life360 app on any secondary devices. Only remain logged in on your primary phone.

In the Life360 app, tap the Settings icon > Account > Log Out on any extra devices. This eliminates conflicts between devices that may interfere with locations syncing properly.

Disable VPN

Virtual private networks (VPNs) route your internet connection through alternative servers, thereby changing your IP address and location. This can confuse apps relying on your GPS coordinates like Life360.

Go to your device settings and toggle off any VPN connections that are enabled. You can re-enable the VPN when you are done using Life360 if needed.

Why is my family member showing in the wrong location on Life360?

Occasional location inaccuracies can happen if GPS signals are weak or settings need adjustment. Try moving outdoors with a clear view of the sky and give it some time to calibrate for improved accuracy.

In the last year alone, Apple sold more than 62 million iPads. It’s no doubt that iPad is so popular, and many Instagram users use iPads.

But even then, Instagram does not have a native version of the app for iPad.

So you are forced to download the mobile version of Instagram on iPad. But here comes a big problem. As Instagram is not optimized for iPad, Instagram appears small on iPad.

After installing Instagram on your iPad, you will notice that Instagram does not even use 30% of the total screen real estate,

If you want to use Instagram in full screen on iPad, you have come to the right place.

So let’s see how.

Why Is Instagram Small On My iPad?

Why Is Instagram Small On My iPad?

Many might wonder why Instagram is so small on iPad.

The reason is that the Instagram app is not natively available for iPads.

The Instagram app on the App Store available for iPad is the mobile version.

So, in short, you’re installing the iPhone version of Instagram on your iPad.

When you install Instagram on your iPad, the Instagram app will only be the size of an iPhone screen.

It’s high time that Meta should introduce a dedicated version of Instagram for iPads to fully use the screen. Hopefully, we may see the same in the near future.

But for now, you may try the trick below to use Instagram in full screen on iPad.

How To Run Instagram On Full Screen On iPad?

To run Instagram on full screen on iPad, you need to use the Instagram PWA or Progressive Web App. Just open Safari, visit Instagram.com, and tap the Share button. Tap Add to Home Screen. Now tap the Instagram PWA icon, and the app should launch in full screen.

Currently, the only way to use Instagram in full-screen mode on iPad is to use Instagram PWA.

For starters, PWA means Progressive Web App. It is an option that lets you add websites as an app to your iPad’s home screen and access it with a button.

The layout of Instagram remains the same in PWA as well. Everything like add post button, stories section, feed, plus person icon, everything appears exactly where it is in the mobile version.

Once you set up Instagram PWA, it will be like using the native Instagram app for iPad.

Let’s set up Instagram PWA on iPad.

Open Safari web browser and head to instagram.com.

Once the website loads up, tap the Share button from the top right corner.

Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen“.

Tap “Add“.

Now if you go to your app drawer, you will find an Instagram PWA icon. Just tap the icon to open the Instagram PWA.

You will be asked to log in to your account.

Enter the login credentials and hit sign in.

After logging in, Instagram will appear full screen on iPad.

Even though we are accessing Instagram’s website, it feels like using an app specifically made for iPad.

Good bye to the old black bars on all sides of the Instagram app.

Here’s it the fix if TikTok Open Instagram On Safari or your Instagram stories appears blurry.

Turning Instagram To Landscape On iPad

Many people would like to use Instagram in landscape mode on their iPad.

But when you open the Instagram app and rotate your iPad, Instagram will still stay in portrait mode.

The Instagram app on iPad does not turn into landscape mode because the app is developed for iPhones.

But if you want to use Instagram in landscape mode, no matter what, the only option is to use Instagram PWA.

Follow the steps above to add Instagram PWA to your iPad.

Once done, turn off the orientation lock.

Turn your iPad into landscape orientation, and Instagram should switch to landscape mode.

What’s Next?

As Meta has not yet introduced a dedicated version of the Instagram app, Instagram appears small on iPad with big edges to all four sides. The Instagram app does not use 30% of the iPad’s screen.

The only way to use Instagram in full screen and landscape mode on an iPad is to use the Instagram PWA.

We can expect Meta to launch Instagram for iPad in the near future. Till then, use the PWA.

Are you experiencing issues with your PS5 mic not working?

It can be frustrating when you’re trying to communicate with your friends during gameplay, but your mic won’t cooperate.

Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to fix the problem and get back to enjoying your gaming experience.

First, check your audio settings to ensure your mic is connected correctly and selected as the input device.

You can do this by going to Settings > Sound > Microphone. Here, you can adjust the input volume and select the appropriate device. If your mic still isn’t working, try changing the microphone level and speaking into the mic to see if it responds.

If you’re still having trouble with your PS5 mic, don’t worry – there are other solutions to try.

Unmute The Mic

If your PS5 mic is not working, it could be because you have accidentally muted it.

Simply press the Mute button on your DualSense controller to unmute the mic.

The mute button is located on the bottom left-hand side of the controller, just below the PlayStation button.

Once you have pressed the mute button, you should see a small microphone icon appear on your screen. This indicates that your mic is now unmuted, and you should be able to speak to your teammates or friends in-game.

Set The Right Mic As Default One

If your PS5 mic is not working, the problem could be that the wrong microphone is set as the default one. Here’s how to set the right mic as the default one:

Press the PS button on your DualSense controller to go to the Quick Menu.

Select the Mic icon.

select the mic menu ps5

Click Mic.

Select the right mic to use, and you should be good to go.

Ensure that the microphone you want to use is selected as the default. If you’re unsure which microphone to choose, try each one until you find the one that works.

Adjust The Microphone Level

If your PS5 mic is not working, adjusting the microphone level might help. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Press the PS button on your DualSense controller to go to the Quick Menu.
  2. Select Mic icon.
  3. Select “Adjust Mic Level”
  4. Now try speaking something and ensure the level reaches “Good”.
  5. You can use the slider below to adjust the level (if needed).

You can also adjust the microphone level directly from your DualSense controller. Press the PlayStation button to access the control center, then select Mic. From there, you can change input devices, mute and unmute your mic, and adjust your mic level.

Check Your Mic Settings

If your PS5 mic is not working, it could be due to incorrect mic settings. Here are a few things you can do to check your mic settings:

  • First, ensure that your mic is properly connected to your PS5 controller. If it is not, disconnect and reconnect it to the controller.
  • Next, go to the PS5 home screen and select Settings > Sound > Microphone. Here, you can adjust the microphone volume and enable or disable the microphone.
  • If your mic is still not working, check if it is muted. To do this, press the small flat button beneath the PS button of the controller. If the button is red, it means the mic is muted. Press it again to unmute the mic.
  • Another thing to check is the input device. Go to Settings > Sound > Input Device and select Microphone on Controller. This should ensure that your mic is set as the input device.
  • If you are using a gaming headset with a mic, make sure that the headset is properly connected to the PS5 console and that the mic is not muted.

By checking your mic settings, you can fix many common PS5 mic issues. If your mic still doesn’t work, try some of the other solutions we’ll discuss in the following sections.

Ensure The Headphones & Mic Is Working

If your PS5 mic is not working, you should ensure that your headphones and mic are working. Here are some steps you can follow to ensure that your headphones and mic are functioning properly

Ensure your headphones and mic are correctly connected to your PS5 controller. If you’re using a wired headset, check that the cable is securely connected to the controller. If you’re using a wireless headset, ensure it’s properly paired with your PS5.

To test your mic, go to Settings > Sound > Microphone and select Test Microphone. Speak into the mic and see if the sound levels are moving. If the sound is not registering, try adjusting the mic volume or checking if the mic is muted.

Try A Different Mic

Sometimes, the issue may not be with the console but the mic itself.

Before you go out and purchase a new mic, try borrowing one from a friend or family member to see if it works with your PS5. This can help you determine if the issue is with your console or your mic.

If you don’t have anyone to borrow a mic from, you can also try using a different headset or earbuds with a built-in mic. Make sure to check the compatibility of the headset or earbuds with the PS5 before purchasing.

Restart PS5

If you are experiencing issues with your PS5 microphone, restarting your console may be a quick and easy solution. This can help clear any temporary glitches or bugs that might be causing the issue.

To restart your PS5, follow these simple steps:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the front of your console until it beeps twice.
  2. Wait for the console to shut down completely.
  3. Once the console is off, wait a few seconds, and then press the power button again to turn it back on.

After your console has restarted, try using your microphone again to see if the issue has been resolved. If the problem persists, you may need to try some other troubleshooting steps.

It’s important to note that restarting your PS5 may cause you to lose any unsaved progress in your games or applications, so be sure to save your work before restarting if necessary.

Update PS5

If your PS5 mic is not working, the first thing you should do is check for system updates. Outdated software can cause issues with your PS5’s microphone, so it’s important to make sure your system is up to date.

To check for system updates, follow these steps:

Go to the PS5 home screen.

Select the gear icon in the top right corner to access the Settings menu.

Scroll down to System and select it.

Select System Software.

Select System Software Update and Settings.

System Software Update and Settings

Select Update System Software.

Select Update System Software.

If there is an update available, you will see an option to Download and Install.

Select Update using Internet.

Update using Internet

Just select Update.

Update PS5 Software.

It’s important to note that system updates can take some time to download and install. Make sure your PS5 is plugged in and connected to the internet before starting the update process.

Once the update is complete, restart your PS5 and check if your mic is now working. If not, there may be other issues with your hardware or software that need to be addressed.

Checking for system updates is a simple and effective way to fix issues with your PS5 mic. Make sure to keep your system up to date to avoid future problems.

Contact Sony Support
